tee hee XD

Okay, well, for lunch, I have a healthy sandwich and a serving of fruit. I need another side dish to compliment them. It has to be healthy and please don't say a salad or soup. I tried cottage cheese. and I hate it. So another side dish would be good, and it should be easy.

Answer
jello,

the ready made, sugar free is very healthy

Which is healthier: a sandwich on bread or a sandwich in a wrap?

I'm trying to make healthy sandwich choices but I can only get processed deli meat. any suggestions?

Answer
Hi megstar!

You don't have to get processed deli meat. Usually, when you go to a store that has a deli in it, you can get fresh deli meat cut up for your sandwiches. I would recommend fresh turkey breast or chicken breast. Stay away from Salami and any other deli meats that have combined ingredients in them.
If you are an absolute bread-lover and do not like wraps, only get whole grain bread. Make sure the very first ingredient listed says "whole grain". If you don't care and like wraps too, then try to stay away from bread for a while and just make yourself wraps with whole wheat tortillas, turkey breast, and whatever else you like on it. Go easy on the dressing, like mayo. Use less dressing and more spices. You'll see, it is very delicious.
Also, try to only use spices without MSG (Monosodium Glutamate). It is best to just use pure salt, pepper, paprika and so on. A lot of mixed spices contain all kinds of enhancers, not just MSG. These enhancers can cause all kinds of health problems.
I am currently undergoing a dietary change and am looking forward to a healthier lifestyle. (Note: I'm the queen of fast foods, lol)
Good luck to ya!

Healthy easy lunch ideas for work when pregnant?

Crazzychk

I don't know about you ladies, but the idea of heating up lunch meat before eating it makes my stomach go funny. Not that I mind grilled sandwiches. But I need some quick, easy, and healthy lunch ideas for work. I have been making my lunch for work and I am running out of ideas. I have been hungry all day and bring fruits, granola, and yogurt for snacks. I really need something filling for lunch time to help. Any idea's? Thanks in advance!

Answer
You can eat cold cuts without heating them up...that's on old wives tale. I know MANY people who ate them while pregnant and their babies were perfectly fine...I've been eating them myself as well. Dr. says it's fine.

I want some healthy and easy recipes that I can make for lunch. With cheap ingredients and that I can eat on a regular basis. Also maybe some healthy snack ideas?(preferably cheap) thanks!

Answer
I like to make chicken salad for lunches. It’s healthy, fast, and full of protein to keep you full for a long time. Just boil 4 skinless/boneless chicken breasts (around $7), then dice into small squares. Mix in a big bowl with 1 cup mayonnaise, ¼ cup mustard, 1 tsp lemon juice, 1 diced onion, 5 diced stalks of celery, salt & pepper (around $5). So, for a total of only 12 bucks, you have lunch for every day of the week.

I pre-portion the Chicken Salad into ziplock sandwich baggies and keep in the fridge, so they are ready to go for each day. Just use a small insulated lunch bag with a freezer pack, to keep the food fresh until lunch time. For a snack, I bring along a bag of baby carrots and ranch dressing. I work in an office, and this is a great lunch for Mon-Fri. Saves me bundles of money and is much healthier than eating fast food every day. If you want, you can take bread to put the salad on, but since I eat low-carb foods, I skip the bread.

What are some easy brown bag lunches for kids?

dasi108

Any one know of healthy and easy brown bag lunches, that maybe don't require to be kept cold or need to be warmed up? I need some ideas.

Answer
Kids eat out of necessity and then want to go play or socialize before the end of the lunch break. Food has to be eaten by hand. Mini carrots, peanut-butter crackers, grapes. That is the favourite of my kids. Cold cuts with crackers, or there are are a thousand combinations of cold sandwiches that can be made quickly. My kids like raw snow peas. We cut up watermelon (when it's good) into handy pieces, same with cantalope. We always ensure that they have a protien, a veg, and a fruit. They get ice cream or cookies when they get home, but we do not pack dessert in their backpacks because we know they would eat that first and abandon the rest. Good luck.
