I need some snack ideas for my one year old daughter. Now that we are off formula and on whole milk I need some foods for her to snack on in between meals. Im looking for things that are nutritious, and filling, but most of all things that she will enjoy eating.
What are some of your toddlers favorite snacks?

Answer
My son loved all these things when he was a toddler:

cheese, apple cubes, olives, rice crackers, slightly steamed carrot sticks (so that they aren't hard, but sticks he can hold), cut grapes, pretty much ANY fruit. Home made fruit leather makes him go CRAZY, he loves it so much and it's super healthy (there are tons of recipes on line or in any baby food book). Almond butter sandwiches on whole wheat/gluten free flax bread cut into tiny little squares (allergies permitting).

Hope that helped! Good luck

What are some inexpensive but still nutritious meals for my family?

Campbell's

My husband and I just bought our first home, which means tightening up the budget a little. We would be fine with soup and sandwiches every night for dinner, but that's not fair to our toddler son.

Can you suggest some meals that will get in fruits or veggies, that are fairly cheap, not too fattening, and will appeal to our 20 month old? Thank you!!

Answer
spaghetti is super cheap and you can add a veggie to increase the vitamins plus some garlic bread. Also hamburger helper is pretty cheap. Not extremely healthy but it meets most of the needs of the food groups. Cook a veggie side and you have a complete meal. Tacos are cheap as well, and again, it doesnt exactly scream health but you can find ways of making it healthier like using ground turkey instead of beef. Same with hamburgers, use ground turkey when possible and use fresh or frozen veggies instead of canned. Try looking up casserole recipes that include more than one veg/ fruit along with a meet. As long as you get a balanced diet including all of the food groups.
