Sorry if some of my scentences make no sense, it is midnight and I am on a cold medicine that's keeping me awake. Thanks!

Healthy sandwich recipe?

1 ounce is how many deli chicken slices?
does anybody have a healthy sandwich recipe using deli chicken slices?

im stuck for ideas for lunch..

Answer
The amount of chicken you get in one ounce will vary with the thickness of the slice. If you don't have a scale then when you get your deli meat make sure you order only 3/4 of a pound (12 ounces). This will give you a better idea of how to measure an ounce - 12 one ounce servings, 6 two ounce servings or 4 three ounce servings.
When you make a sandwich use 100% whole wheat bread (more fiber, will fill you up more, easy to metabolize, etc.). Toast the bread. Skip the mayo and use mustard. Use low sodium turkey or chicken and low fat cheese. Tomato slices, lettuce or arugula.
I like to use red pepper hummus and don't use cheese or mustard (very moist and creamy). Lots of protein, low fat.

********************************************
1. At your grocery store, buy the sealed PRE-COOKED meats that come is small packages such as the following. You can make two or three meals out of them:

Beef tips with gravy,
Roast with gravy,
Pork roast,
Chicken,
Baked ham,
Pork chops,
Meatloaf,
etc.

Just heat in your microwave; directions are on the packages. You will find these packages in the cold section (not the freezer). Ask a clerk to help you find these. They are delicious.

Use these for your meat dish with a side dish or two of canned or frozen vegetables, beans, potatoes or sweet potatoes which can all be found on shelves or in the freezer section and they are already cooked.
.
You can now buy bags of different flavors of precooked rice that you put into your microwave for a minute or two. These are on shelves at the grocery store. We like the chicken flavored best of all. Have a clerk help you find them.
.
Real mashed potatoes that come in a bag...add water, butter, milk. Delicious. Read the directions.
.
Buy top brand cans of stew for each person. Serve with cornbread, crackers, or toast.
.
Soup and a grilled (fried) cheese sandwiches. Go to this video to see how to make a quick grilled cheese sandwich:

.
You can buy all types of salad greens in large packages now. Buy the ones that have been pre-washed. Add your own dressing which you can buy in bottles.
.
2. The top brands of microwave frozen dinners are very good now. These come in single servings or in family sized bags. Follow directions. Look for the words "No Preservatives" marked on the box or package.
Just add a canned or frozen vegetable as a side dish.

Top brands of dinners that are found on shelves. No fridge needed. Add water, microwave. These are good to take to school or work. Follow directions on the containers.

4. Supermarket deli's have pre roasted chickens, fried chickens, roast beef, and side dishes. You can stop in on the way home and grab a quick dinner to take home. I buy their roasted chicken often...they are delicious.
.
5. Buy a crock pot. You put everything into the pot in the morning, set it on low for 8 hours, and your dinner will be ready for you when you come home in the evening! I kid you not. Be sure to read the instruction booklet.
There is a recipe booklet that comes with the crock pot. You can buy crock pots at places such as your grocery store, Walmart, and etc.

Thanks! I will try it all!
Thanks! I will try it all!
Thanks! I will try it all!

Answer
I dont live in a country where they label food lunch, breakfast and dinner. However if you live in a country like that, it is done for people who cannot think for themselves and require media to tell them what they require and where to spend their money, rather than living and learning about real nutrition and food identification and preparation.

In the morning eat some food classified as carbohydrates to give you energy for the first half of the day. This will keep you going evenly during the morning. Examples are grains, wheat, rice, oats; - pasta. -- so eat cereal, preferably not stuff with tony tiger or other pretty animals on the box. Eat rice to be sure your not eating high processed corporate food. Try oatmeal, unsugared wheat or corn flakes. Put some fruit on them - chopped up - banana, apples, strawberries, anything etc

Boil some rice in hot water for about 15 minutes until its soft, then throw in a few teaspoons of soysauce and sme left over meat from the night before and some veges - like peas and corn.

At noon you should have your main meal fr the day. Have a steak or chicken or pork or lamb, pan fried, bbq, roasted or boiled in a soup. Eat this with chopped up real veges from the market like carrots, corn, peas, spinach, brussels, cabbage, squash, or whatever is in season in your area of the world.

In the late afternoon, have a smaller meal, some sandwiches etc with the leftovers from midday, if you have any. It only has to keep you going while you laze about before bed.

Remember more food in morning an arvo, and less in the evening, and don't by preprepared food, that come in boxes that only require you to add water and eat.

I am working at a day camp next week and I don't want to spend alot of money to go get something to eat like most of the counselors. I know I would get tired of eating a sandwich every day. Does anyone know of any good healthy recipes that won't require a microwave that I can eat and it can cool me off a bit?

Answer
Prepare a slice of turkey breast with a spread inside a lettuce wrap. You can then take out a water bottle spray at lunch, spray once or twice, and make the wrap cooling to eat.

A. any of these could be healthy if u substitue.except for the salad i think its as healthy as its gunna get..

i just asked the same question about 15 minutes ago and i made it in about 5 minutes:
the recipe was

mix frozen spinach but thaw it out first eggs and chopped up hot dogs in a bowl and then fry..put seasonings and hot sauce in also if u want..put on a piece of toast...and or just bread...it was actually very good---
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...
ok with top ramen noodles the possibilities are endless!..seriously
u could boil them and then drain and add veggies, and pasta sauce and if u really want some kind of meat..do u have canned meat? if so there u go..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...

u can also cook, and drain them and then fry them in a pan with shredded or any kind of cheese that you have..add a few vegetables and some already cooked meat if u want..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...
chopped hot dogs and scrambled eggs..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...

pb and j but instead of the jelly use nutella if u have it?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...
huevos ranchers: take some tortillas fry them and then put them asided to drain the oil from the pan. take a couple of eggs and for my i dont cook them all the way through i love them drainy like u know..ne ways cook the eggs sunny side up and while they are cooking put some tomatoe sauce (small can) and add sugar to it....make sure u keep tasting it as ur adding the sugar bc u want the taste to be sweet not bittery..ne ways take the sunny side up eggs put them on the tortillas and drizzle the tomatoe sauce mixture..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...
oh and this is really good and healthy..if u have ne lettuce green lead preferable take it rinse it off dry it and then chopped off some tomatoes, cucumbers and what ever other veggies u like in a salad...and just throw some olive oil and vinegar salt and pepper if u want..this is the BEST most simple salad i have ever eaten..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...
Hot stews or soups in wide mouth thermoses for at work (don't forget the spoon).
Cold chicken salads in wide mouth thermoses for work/school (don't forget the fork and crackers).
Fruit for dessert.
Dinner:
A balanced plate such as:
One meat/or fish/or chicken/or turkey (no to sausages).
One vegetable.
One starch which can be rice, or potatoes, or beans, or corn.
Fruit for dessert.
1. At your grocery store, buy the sealed PRE-COOKED meats that come is small packages such as the following. You can make two or three meals out of them:
Beef tips with gravy,
Roast with gravy,
Pork roast,
Just heat in your microwave; directions are on the packages. You will find these packages in the cold section (not the freezer). Ask a clerk to help you find these. They are delicious.
Use these for your meat dish with a side dish or two of canned or frozen vegetables, beans, potatoes or sweet potatoes which can all be found on shelves or in the freezer section and they are already cooked.
.
