Some easy, healthy recipes?

My dad and brothers are going to be gone, so it's just going to be me and my mom. She's been sick lately so i want to do the cooking. I just need 2 more meals which are a lunch and a welcome home dinner. Any suggestions?
i have pizza, tacos, spaghetti, salad and baked potato, sandwiches, hot dogs and Shepard's pie

pot roast is always an outstanding welcome home dinner! The entire house smells awesome and it shouts out loud when you walk inside "dinner is here for you, welcome home" The greatest thing about this is that everything goes into one pot! Add a salad and you are done.

My boys also love a beer butt chicken. Season a whole chicken, put it onto a can of beer or coke and set the whole thing onto a shallow heavy pan. Cook at 350 for 2 hours and it is done! Just be sure to let it set for a while before you do anything with it and you will need help getting it off the can! Don't do it by yourself.


Plan to use your leftovers for a meal. If you cook chicken for dinner, cut up the chicken and make a salad with chicken on top. Or use it with toast and tomato and a bit of bacon to make club sandwich's.
If you do pasta one night, put an extra handful or two of pasta in to boil, add leftover veggies and heat it all up in broth to make a simple soup.
If your mother has been sick with flu or something, prepare light meals that won't set on her stomach heavily for a long time.
If she is weak, plan meals around a protein such as chicken or fish or even beef.
Eggs are a great protein meal! fix an omelet. They are simple and fun to make. Its all about the toppings!

Chicken Stir Fry Recipe
This chicken stir fry recipe does not have any vegetables in it, because I find many kids like to keep their vegetables and main course separate. If your family enjoys all-in-one meals, by all means, add some red pepper, snow peas, broccoli and/or mushrooms to this stir fry chicken recipe.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

* 1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch chunks
* 1/3 cup cornstarch
* 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
* 1/2 cup orange marmalade
* 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
* 1 tsp. minced ginger
* 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
* kosher salt and freshly-ground black pepper, to taste
* 2 tsp. canola oil

Preparation:

1. Place chicken breast pieces in a gallon-size zip-top plastic bag. Add cornstarch. Toss to coat.

2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, orange marmalade, garlic, ginger and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

3. Heat wok over high heat. Add canola oil. Add chicken. Stir-fry until the chicken is no longer pink.

4. Pour the sauce over the chicken. Stir-fry to coat the chicken.

Ingredients

* 3 tablespoons soy sauce
* 3 tablespoons brown sugar
* 2 tablespoons sherry
* 1 tablespoon sesame oil
* 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
* 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
* 8 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cut into 2 inch pieces
* 1 (20 ounce) can pineapple chunks, drained
* skewers

Directions

1. In a shallow glass dish, mix the soy sauce, brown sugar, sherry, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic powder. Stir the chicken pieces and pineapple into the marinade until well coated. Cover, and marinate in the refrigerator at least 2 hours.
2. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
3. Lightly oil the grill grate. Thread chicken and pineapple alternately onto skewers. Grill 15 to 20 minutes, turning occasionally, or until chicken juices run clear.

Easy healthy recipes?

Im looking for some easy healthy recipes. something quick and nothing too special. I mean i eat tuna straight from a can or mix it with fat free yogurt and spread some on bread. I eat cottage cheese on bread (Fat free). Im looking for simple things like that, where i get some good protein while avoiding fat and keeping the carbs rather low. Im not a fan of salads however i do like mixing chopped up vegetables as long as i stay away from the things i dont like.

Ill list some things i do not like:
celery
regular lettuce
raw onion
cabbage

Now some things i do like
cucumber
mushroom
olive
chicken
turkey
fish (all of them)
seafood


Im tring to lose weight and im no chef so i need to come up with ideas so i stop eating the same 3 things every day. Also some healthy deserts would be nice for a snake. i found cinnamon and cottage cheese was actually quite good. something similar that stays very healthy.

I don't know if you like yogurt, but kefir is a great alternative to yogurt - more healthful punch and great if wanting to lose weight. You may want to check into it. You can get it lowfat and drink like a shake or add nutty granola for breakfast. Kefir will also help your digestion and keep bacteria balanced while you diet.

You can also put some kefir in the blender with your favorite fruits and make a great morning drink.

Cucumbers make a great sandwich! We use them here on sandwiches in the summer when they are in season.

Try stir frying your favorite veggies with a bit of chicken. Very easily done by just adding some coconut oil (healthful fats) to a pan and tossing in your favorite chopped veggies and chicken. To season add a bit of soy sauce and giner. Light, easy and served on a bed of rice it makes a great quick low cal meal with lots of nutrients.

Take care with the fish and tuna. Most are contaminated with mercury, which the body doesn't like to eliminate. There are dietary guidelines based on the mercury content. I believe tuna they say no more than once a week.

The cinnamon is a great add. Put it on whatever you want. It aids digestion and will help with your weight loss goals.

Well its not so hard really, here what I eat everyday for dinner since im on diet:

Spicy Chicken Sandwich:

First you buy those packages at Walmart or something that have like 5 pieces of chicken breast. I like to pick the Tyson brand. Each serving is 110 calories and around 5-10 calories from fat and 26g of protein, which is very good.

Then buy Bimbo Soft Wheat bread, or if you can find it, buy Bimbo 100% whole wheat. I buy mine off H.E.B. dunno if you have that store where you live. 2 slices are 120 calories, 10 calories from fat.

And finally a spice called Cayenne Pepper Powder. Its very healthy and helps increase metabolism. Maybe perhaps you would like to add a little pepper too?

You can add lettuce or avocado if you wish!

Just sprinkle the desired amount of Cayenne Pepper on the chicken breast & cook it on high. I cook mine without any oil because it already contains fat which works well to not stick so much.

And vuala, you have a very delicious chicken sandwich for less than 300 calories and high in protein & wheat

And if you cant find the Bimbo brand, make sure the bread you buy does NOT have high fructose corn syrup. Many breads do.

EDIT: Hmm well if you prefer tangy...you could always add a little lemon. Maybe perhaps you would like to cook the chicken breast in lemon juice or celery leaves for a change?

But whatever you do, do not add mayo, mayo is never healthy even though it claims to be "low fat".

It's summer, and I am home alone for quiet some time. So I have to cook for myself.
I am kind of a health freak, I won't eat anything really unhealthy even though I might crave it (mostly sweet things like ice cream, cookies, and stuff.) But I am quiet picky.
Is there a website that has some easy healthy recipes I can make?
Or can you just list the name of the dish so I can look up the recipe?

Summer is a good time for single raw foods that you can just eat without a lot of fussing around and without heating up the house. I always think of summer as a time for snacks which means, to me at least, just means smaller amounts of food that is easy to prepare. Still can be balanced nutrition and healthy stuff!

Go for things like grapes, bananas, apples, berries, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes...whatever produce looks good dipped in ranch if you like. Whatever looks good and is in season. Make yourself a big old salad and toss it with some olive oil and citrus juice, salt, pepper, garlic. Don't be afraid to mix fruits and veggies together. Berries go great in a mixed green salad, and tropical fruits like pineapple, melons, and mango can be made into spicy salsas!

You can also grill up some chicken breasts, add a baked potato (or a sweet potato) from the microwave, and some of your salad. If you grill a couple chicken pieces ahead of time, you can store them a couple days, and mix them with some honey mustard and pickles for a chicken salad. Ham steak is also pretty lean and cooks up quickly and easily. Maybe you have a George Foreman grill laying around which makes things easy in the summer. You can also grill up almost any vegetable. Just slice it about half inch thick and rub a little olive oil, salt, and pepper on it. Good summer veg to grill include squashes, eggplants, onions, tomatoes, and even fruit.

Tortilla chips and pita are pretty healthy, so are triscuit crackers. You can use these to dip with or to make tiny little sandwiches with. When you read the ingredients on a package of food, the easier they are to understand, and the fewer the ingredients are in a food, the better. So...when you look at chips, the plain old tortilla chips are basically just corn, oil, and salt. That is pretty simple for a snack food, unlike a chip that has been spray painted with cheese like Doritos or Cheetos.

There is also yogurt, which is a lovely snack and can be used for smoothies. Try to keep some fruit pieces frozen up to thicken your smoothies instead of ice. Pure flavor, and an excellent use of fruits that are getting a little too soft to eat like bananas...which helps you not to waste them.

Eggs are also pretty good for you in moderation, and they are really easy to fix and super versatile.

If you like peanut butter get some of that. You can get healthier kinds with no added sugar, and you can also get a better jelly...basically a fruit spread with fiber (really yummy...just plain mashed up fruit with its pulp and seeds, it is just like jam only not much added ingredients like sugar)...and then make your PBJ with some whole grain bread.

You might enjoy growing your own herbs. Try it as a hobby and to improve your food! They are cheap to get started and then as long as you give it some water every now and then and don't over harvest them, they will continue to produce for a very long time, for FREE. You don't pick them, you trim off what you need and the plant keeps growing. Since some herbs are really expensive, this is a good way to get a delicious bargain. When the weather gets cool, bring them inside. Tomatoes and cucumbers and peppers are really easy to grow as well!

Turkey, yogurt sauce, & salad.
Peanut butter, Miracle Whip, & sliced bananas.
Onion & tomato. Sprinkle with salt.
Garlic & tomato. Sprinkle with salt.

Chicken, bacon, & mayo on toasted whole grain bread.

You might enjoy growing your own herbs. Try it as a hobby and to improve your food! They are cheap to get started and then as long as you give it some water every now and then and don't over harvest them, they will continue to produce for a very long time, for FREE. You don't pick them, you trim off what you need and the plant keeps growing. Since some herbs are really expensive, this is a good way to get a delicious bargain. When the weather gets cool, bring them inside. Tomatoes and cucumbers and peppers are really easy to grow as well!

What are some easy, healthy recipes for a teen to do?

It's summer, and I am home alone for quiet some time. So I have to cook for myself.
I am kind of a health freak, I won't eat anything really unhealthy even though I might crave it (mostly sweet things like ice cream, cookies, and stuff.) But I am quiet picky.
Is there a website that has some easy healthy recipes I can make?
Or can you just list the name of the dish so I can look up the recipe?

A. Summer is a good time for single raw foods that you can just eat without a lot of fussing around and without heating up the house. I always think of summer as a time for snacks which means, to me at least, just means smaller amounts of food that is easy to prepare. Still can be balanced nutrition and healthy stuff!

Go for things like grapes, bananas, apples, berries, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes...whatever produce looks good dipped in ranch if you like. Whatever looks good and is in season. Make yourself a big old salad and toss it with some olive oil and citrus juice, salt, pepper, garlic. Don't be afraid to mix fruits and veggies together. Berries go great in a mixed green salad, and tropical fruits like pineapple, melons, and mango can be made into spicy salsas!

You can also grill up some chicken breasts, add a baked potato (or a sweet potato) from the microwave, and some of your salad. If you grill a couple chicken pieces ahead of time, you can store them a couple days, and mix them with some honey mustard and pickles for a chicken salad. Ham steak is also pretty lean and cooks up quickly and easily. Maybe you have a George Foreman grill laying around which makes things easy in the summer. You can also grill up almost any vegetable. Just slice it about half inch thick and rub a little olive oil, salt, and pepper on it. Good summer veg to grill include squashes, eggplants, onions, tomatoes, and even fruit.

Q. Hi,
My hubby is going to Iraq soon. So its just going to be me and my 2 daughters (ages 5 and 2) for awhile. What i am looking for is some easy healthy kid friendly recipes. I am also hoping that these recipes have "normal" ingredients, LoL. Like i have NO idea what a leek is, i don't know if that is even know if thats spelled right.
Anyways... healthy....kid friendly. I would like to lose some weight while he is gone and not have to make a separate meal for my kids and also add some recipes to my very small collection that are healthy. Please don't refer me to any recipe sights because I've looked at a billion of them and have found very little that helps me. I would like mother tested and approved Ideas. Thanks in advance :)

A. Replace all your ground beef with ground turkey to save 50% in calories.
Brown it in big batches, then freeze in 1# baggies. Thaw it out to make tacos (add a pkg of taco seasoning & simmer til dried, put on hard shells or tortillas w/lettuce, cheese, tomatoes.
Thaw & add to a jar of spaghetti sauce & serve over noodles.
Thaw and add a can of manwich, simmer, serve on buns.

Get a crockpot & put a beef or pork roast in it, cook all day with onions, carrots & potatoes. Use the leftovers for sandwiches, stew or soup the next day.

Breakfast-for-dinner is a hit for kids: make french toast or pancakes, or scrambled eggs for dinner. Or "toad-in-a-hole"--
cut a circle in a bread slice with a cup. Fry on one side til golden, flip, and break an egg into the hole. Fry til done.
(don't throw the circles away--fry them too)

Healthy sandwich?Any recipes, ideas out there?

Smoked turkey breast with Swiss cheese and mayonnaise on a whole wheat bread.
Sliced boiled eggs with sliced tomatoes. Good with chili sauce.
Roast beef with hot cheddar cheese.
Turkey, yogurt sauce, & salad.
Peanut butter, Miracle Whip, & sliced bananas.
Onion & tomato. Sprinkle with salt.
Garlic & tomato. Sprinkle with salt.
Onion, tomato, garlic, & green pepper. Sprinkle with salt.
Chicken, bacon, & mayo on toasted whole grain bread.
Egg salad, sprouts, & shredded carrots.

Can you give me a healthy kid-friendly easy recipe?

I need some healthy and easy recipes for lunch?
Q. I want some healthy and easy recipes that I can make for lunch. With cheap ingredients and that I can eat on a regular basis. Also maybe some healthy snack ideas?(preferably cheap) thanks!

A. I like to make chicken salad for lunches. It’s healthy, fast, and full of protein to keep you full for a long time. Just boil 4 skinless/boneless chicken breasts (around $7), then dice into small squares. Mix in a big bowl with 1 cup mayonnaise, ¼ cup mustard, 1 tsp lemon juice, 1 diced onion, 5 diced stalks of celery, salt & pepper (around $5). So, for a total of only 12 bucks, you have lunch for every day of the week.

I pre-portion the Chicken Salad into ziplock sandwich baggies and keep in the fridge, so they are ready to go for each day. Just use a small insulated lunch bag with a freezer pack, to keep the food fresh until lunch time. For a snack, I bring along a bag of baby carrots and ranch dressing. I work in an office, and this is a great lunch for Mon-Fri. Saves me bundles of money and is much healthier than eating fast food every day. If you want, you can take bread to put the salad on, but since I eat low-carb foods, I skip the bread.


What are some healthy and tasty recipes?
Q. So far, the only foods that I know how to make are sandwiches, spaghetti, and sushi. What are some recipes that are easy to make, healthy, and relatively inexpensive?

A. Black beans and brown rice with stewed tomatoes, onion and green pepper is easy to make, inexpensive.

Any whole grain pasta dishes, supplement them with a generous amount of veggies. I love broccoli, so lots of times make pasta dish and add lots of steamed broccoli mixed in.

Pizza is healthy, believe or not. It's how is made that makes it healthy, using veggies (I like steamed broccoli), stewed tomatoes (has green pepper and onion, crushed and reduced down in sauce pan) with added italian spice, garlic (minced or powder), sometimes cajun spice. Can add a little parmesan before the pizza goes in the oven. When it comes out, that is when I add the steamed veggies.

Stir fry veggies and cut up chicken with brown rice is good for you, easy to fix, and inexpensive. I like to use Kikkoman Stir-Fry Sauce, tastes so good.

I like to make tuna cakes using leftover bread, toasted and ran thru the processor for crumbs. Add a little dill pickle relish, dijon mustard, powdered garlic and onion. Cook in a little Canola oil till brown on both sides. Serve with brown rice, veggies or whatever. Sometimes I make it as a sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion.
