Yummy healthy recipes?

Nicole

I'm trying to lose some weight before I go to Florida and Costa Rica in March/April. What are your favorite healthy recipes?

Answer
Pizza Panini

Prep time: 3 minutes
Cook time: 3 to 4 minutes
Yield: 4 servings

* 4 small Italian rolls or 1 loaf French bread cut into four 3-inch pieces
* 1/2 cup bottled pizza sauce
* 1 cup shredded mozzarella or a blend (such as Kraft 5-Cheese Italian)
* 1 cup frozen chopped broccoli, thawed, or 16 slices pepperoni
* 4 tsp grated parmesan cheese

1. Preheat indoor grill or grill pan. Split rolls in half. Spoon 2 tablespoons pizza sauce on half of each roll. Top each with 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella, 1/4 cup broccoli or 4 slices pepperoni, and 1 teaspoon parmesan cheese. Top with remaining bread.

2. Place sandwiches on grill, cover, and cook them for 4 minutes, until cheese is melted. Cool slightly and slice on diagonal. Serve with sliced yellow or red peppers.

Tip: You can also cook panini on a nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Place a smaller skillet on top of sandwich to flatten slightly. Cook 2 minutes, carefully flip, flatten, and cook 2 more minutes.

Per serving (with broccoli): 349 calories, 9 g fat (3 g saturated), 928 mg sodium, 11 mg cholesterol.

Healthy Vegatarian recipes?

Jane Doe.

Hey, does anyone know any good vegatarian recipes? Relatively easy to make, and something healthy. Anything with proteins and nutrients that vegatarians need. Also, do you know any foods that are good for vegatarians, like beans, eggs, and lentils? By the way, i'm 15, if that gives you a better idea of what i should eat.
Thank you. :)

Answer
I just made an awesome sandwich today which is super healthy AND delicious! It's inspired from a sandwich I ate at a really good Italian restaurant.

Grilled Portabella Mushroom Sandwich:

1 portabella mushroom cap, rinsed well and patted dry
1 jarred roasted red bell pepper
2 slices fresh mozzarella cheese
3 slices plum tomato (or any other ripe, red, juicy tomato)
1 tsp basil pesto
1 multi-grain baguette or roll

Marinate portabella mushroom in some olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper for 10-15 minutes. Then grill the portabella mushroom for 5 minutes on each side or until tender. Place in sandwich bread and top with roasted bell peppers and sliced mozzarella. Put in toaster oven open faced until cheese melts. Then add sliced tomato, close, and enjoy! Yummy.

If you don't like mushrooms, you can substitute them for eggplants.

For eggs, I would recommend a veggie omelet. My favorite is a Spinach omelet. I just blanch some (about 1 1/2 cups raw) spinach, drain, and squeeze dry. Then crack two eggs in a bowl and add the spinach. You can also add some feta cheese as well if you like. Then heat up some olive oil in a pan (about 1-2 tbsp, just so the omelet doesn't stick) and add your egg mixture. Cook for about 3 minutes or until you can easily flip the omelet. Cook for an additional 30 seconds to 1 minute or until omelet is not runny. Serve with toasted whole-grain bread and you have a healthy delicious meal!

You can also make an easy vegetable sandwich with hummus. Just get some whole-grain pita bread, spread your favorite hummus inside, add some crumbled feta cheese, some sliced olives, cucumber, and tomato, and some romaine lettuce and you're done. This sandwich is the best to make when your in a hurry and don't have time to cook up a lunch.

For beans, you can buy a can of black beans and make a tex-mex (Mexican-inspired) salad. Just mix a 1/2 cup rinsed and drained canned black beans with chopped romaine lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped avocado, tomatoes, cucumber, red bell pepper, cooked corn kernels, and drizzle with lime-cilantro salad dressing (look for it in your grocery store or use this recipe: http://www.recipesource.com/side-dishes/dressings/00/rec0099.html). Toss to combine. Add some corn tortilla chips to it if you don't mind the extra fat and calories. =)

Hope this helped!

Healthy Recipes????!!!!!?

Q. Hello can someone please tell me a healthy meal i could make easily! plz include the recipe and ingredients!

Answer
1. Tuna sandwich with light mayo and a slice of cheese, on multigrain bread (even better if the bread is toasted)

2. Pasta salad...multigrain pasta with low calorie italian dressing...add veggies you like (green pepper, cucumber, red pepper, olives, onion, etc). Might not be the healthiest, but the carbs from the pasta will help give you energy.

Check out sparkpeople.com too - lots of ideas on there.

What are healthy foods to eat for dinner?

heyy =]

I usually eat pretty healthy foods for breakfast and lunch, but when it comes to dinner, my family tends to go for more of the fried foods. Right now, dinner is often a lot of white rice and some fried meat (chicken, steak, etc.) ... :p
What are healthy alternatives that aren't that hard to prepare?

Answer
You could try switching the white rice to brown/wild rice, or trying quinoa instead sometimes. With salmon or grilled tofu. As well as adding vegetables, like broccoli, green beans, carrot, cauliflower, asparagus, zucchini, etc and or a salad. If you can use organic natural ingredients.

Here are some healthy dinner food ideas:

~ Pasta dish with whole grain or brown rice pasta.
For example, with tomato sauce or basil pesto sauce, baby spinach, goat cheese or shredded cheese. Or a pasta salad with baby spinach or grilled vegetables, goat or mozzarella cheese, chopped cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, etc.

~ Salad: mixed baby greens, baby romaine, baby spinach, Italian salad mix, romaine lettuce, etc. with things like cherry tomatoes/tomato, cucumber, low-fat salad dressing or olive oil/vinegar, red onion, dried cranberries, goat or feta crumbles, walnut crumbles or almond slithers, grated carrot, etc.

~ Vegetables - steamed, grilled, etc. You can also try adding a drizzle of olive oil on them, balsamic vinaigrette dressing, lemon - for more flavor.

~ Salmon + wild/brown rice or sweet potato or potato or quinoa + veggies and/or salad.
- For the potato you could make oven fries with olive oil & a sprinkle of salt, basil. To make healthy creamy mashed potatoes try goat cheese added in and for sweet potatoes mashed with cinnamon.

~ Omelets with baby spinach & cheese.

~ Sandwiches.
(On whole grain bread like multigrain, ezekiel, rye, whole wheat pita, whole grain tortilla, etc.)
- Smoked salmon & cream cheese
- Pesto, tomato, baby spinach & mozzarella melt
- Falafel & hummus
- Almond or Peanut butter & jam - nut butter with no added sugar
- Egg & cheese, egg white & spinach in a whole grain tortilla, with cheese like 1-2 tbsp goat cheese
- Chickpea wrap (with things like grated carrot, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, mixed baby greens, salad dressing, etc.)
- Black bean wrap with salsa & some cheese; or a quesadilla on a whole grain tortilla
- Veggie burger
- Hummus, lettuce, grated carrot, sliced cherry tomatoes in a whole wheat pita half

~ Vegetables like broccoli, carrot, yellow & green zucchini, mushrooms, red onion stir fried in olive oil with tofu, served with wild/brown rice of whole grain noodles.

~ Whole wheat pita pizza or multigrain thin crust pizza, with tomato or pesto; baby spinach, mozzarella, grilled vegetables, etc.

What are the easiest easiest recipes to control blood pressure?

healthy italian sandwich recipes

healthy italian sandwich recipes image

joeygirl

My dad's doctor just recommended the DASH diet to control his blood pressure. He lives alone most of the time seeing i go to college out of state. I think the extent of his cooking skills are cereal and ham sandwiches which are not on the diet plan. What are some healthy cheap recipes to try to try out?

Answer
A bag of salad, and a bottle of vinaigrette or italian dressing. Get a container of cherry tomatoes for him to add, and he'll think he's a chef.

fresh (not frozen or canned) veggies and the microwave steamer bags, like the link below shows. Cut up the veggies, put them in the bag, and nuke 'em for whatever the bag says - usually 2-3 minutes. So easy even a dad can do it.

What are some fresh, healthy, tasty, and easy vegetarian meals to bring to work?

Annalysa

I really love beans! I also love any vegetable. I bring salads almost every day, and I would like to switch things up. I just don't have any good ideas!

Please, no links to websites with recipes. I would like personal recipes or ideas.

Answer
Some of my favorites:

- Split Pea Soup (good for menstrual cycle) with Nutritional Yeast on top for added Protein. Split Pea Soup has 18 grams per serving. Nutritional Yeast has 8 grams per tablespoon.
- Take 6 morningstar chicken strips and add 1/4 cup of strawberries mix with Greens. Top with Italian Dressing. :D
- Whole Grain Crackers, Cheese, and Fake Pepperoni slices. Stack them and make a cracker "sandwich".
- Goat Cheese Wrap with Spinach, Tomatoes, Sunflower seeds. Put in a tomato or spinach wrap to make it tasty.
- Bake "Pigs in a Blanket" with Smart Dogs and Croissant Rolls. Bring ketchup for dipping.
- Whole Grain wrap with peanut butter, a banana (chopped), apple slices, and raisons.

Those are some of my favorites.
